Headphone is working on one side only
I've just changed the headphone jack, but nothing has changed.

"if you use the dock connector for play back and there is also only one side working it seems to be a problem with te logic board." This is true, but he is talking about the headphones. This is dealing mainly with the audio/hold headphone jack. What your saying is a completely different story. I do understand where your are coming from.
hi!! I have the same problem, I can only hear on one side of the headphone. in fact, i have two headphones, and the problem exists in both of them. so, in my opinion, there's a technical problem with 5th generation ipods.
