The usb connector sign,and itunes logo is appearing on my iPod?

The usb connector sign,and itunes logo is appearing on my iPod?
One day out of no where the usb connector sign and itunes logo showed up on my iPod scrren. It turnes on but after that the same thing appears and nothing else. Can you tell me whats wrong with my iPod touch first generation.
