Washer will not agitate after filling

Washer will not agitate after filling

When doing a second load of laundry, the washer filled but would not agitate. The washer is not making any noise of than a very faint hum from the console/panel. This seem to me that it is an electrical problem? I've read the other answers, but I would think that there would be some type of tell-tale noise/sound indicating that it is trying to agitate.

MattM, check this answer first and let us know what works.

It is very likely to be a broken lid switch. You can tell this by if you hear a clicking noise when you open and close the lid. If no noise then the switch is broken. If you do hear it then it is possible that you could have a bad motor or timer, either of which are fairly expensive to repair.
