2011 Digital Teaching Innovation

The Smart Teaching and Educational Providers (STEP) will conduct the 2011 Digital Teaching Innovation, a three (3)-day training with hands-on application, from June 3 to September 25, 2011 at the designated computer laboratories of the STEP partners assigned to the schools. The specific schedule of the training is as follows:

The training aims to:
  1. prepare the teacher-participants to utilize the instructional technology tools responsibly;
  2. help them value curriculum outcomes over technology;
  3. educate them on how to use on-line grade books, which make sharing scores and classroom information with students and their parents much easier;
  4. train them on the on-line education (to use video conferencing applications like Skype, as well as other programs that will allow them to share media and information with students on the internet; and
  5. develop digital learning materials which complement multi-sensory learning environments.
The Module Contents of the training are the following:
  1. Advanced Lessons of MS Office 2007 (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point);
  2. Creating Learning Presentation using Flash;
  3. Editing Images using Photoshop;
  4. Creating own web page for teachers, embedding the lesson plan from MS Word, Grades from MS Excel, Presentations from MS Powerpoint and Flash, and Images edited from Photoshop; and
  5. Video Conferencing and Online education.

The participants to this training are the administrators, elementary and secondary teachers from both public and private schools. The names of teachers who will attend must be submitted by their school principals. They can bring their own laptops.

A registration fee of Eight Hundred Pesos (PhP800.00) will be charged each from public school participants and One Thousand Two Hundred Pesos (PhP1,200.00) each from private school participants to cover the cost of venue, training modules, and certificates.
