Doña Isabel and Maria Clara dressed up to go to the Beaterio to fetch her left items there. Before they were about to leave, Friar Damaso appeared.
Damaso asked Maria where they will go next. Maria said that she will go to Ibarra, which enraged the friar. Damaso hurriedly looked for Captain Tiago and they eventually bickered, which then became the gossip between friars.
Damaso told Tiago that he will not condone having Maria being with Ibarra, saying that they should not be together since Ibarra is his enemy.
The friar told the captain that they have the right to decide since he is the maiden’s second parent.
When the friar left, Tiago thought for a while about Ibarra. The captain put out the candle offered for the safe travel of Ibarra.
