ICT4E Assessment

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have agreed to conduct the ICT4E Assessment entitled "Understanding the State of the Art of Information and Communications Technology for Education (ICT4E) in the Philippines." The Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development (FIT-ED) will be the overall coordinator for this project.
The project team members are hereby authorized to visit DepEd offices, elementary and secondary schools, and Alternative Learning System (ALS) centers and to conduct the following activities from July to September 2012:

A. Inventory of ICT4E ProjectsFIT-ED with the help of Regional and Division ICTRelevant DepEd officials, all elementary, high schools, and ALS centers with ICT Projects
B.  Survey on ICT UtilizationFIT-ED and TNS PhilippinesSelected 385 secondary schools
C.  Case StudiesFIT-EDSelected public secondary schools

All concerned are enjoined to support this project and extend every possible assistance to expedite the completion of the activities. The results of this ICT4E Assessment will serve as basis for determining the achievement of the following objectives:
  1. to improve the design and implementation of the DepEd Computerization Program and DepEd Internet Connectivity Program (DCP/DICP);
  2. to better integrate ICT in the K to 12 Curriculum;
  3. to create and implement ICT training programs for teachers; and
  4. to develop relevant policies and guidelines for schools to effectively use ICT in teaching and learning process.
