Screen replacement or ribbon cable replacement?

Screen replacement or ribbon cable replacement?

I don’t know if I can try to replace the ribbon cables on my phones screen instead of replacing the whole screen? It’s not cracked and home button is fine but cannot get it to work properly after re assembly. I’m guessing that the ribbons were damaged when I took it apart but they look fine. Thank you for any information that can be provided.
