Brand new machine pulses very fast on the slowest mode

Brand new machine pulses very fast on the slowest mode

I bought a brand new K45SSWH and just plugged it in to test it. When I turn it onto "stir" it pulses very fast. It also seems to be sparking inside when looking in the gap of the speed controller. I checked youtube videos and all the others spin slowly. Any idea whats wrong?
