How to loosen brakes shoes on self adjusting brakes to allow inspectio

Mike, my club car electric rear brakes self adjusting 1996 model serial A9644-541191 has rear brake squeal and I need to inspect the shoes. The adjusting screw to loosen the brakes shoes to allow drum removal does not exist(it is a small smooth disc) and therefore I conclude that the brakes are self adjusting. How do I loosen the shoes enough to remove the drum?
