My computer will not recognize my phone to upload pictures from it?

my computer will not recognize my phone to transfer photos from phone to computer. It will recognize my cannon camera , but not my phone. I haved tried typeing in motorola, or motorola razr v3 and it doesn't work . Do you have any ideas ?
