2 things, my door ajar light keeps coming on and...

2 things, my door ajar light keeps coming on and... My air flow wont switch from defrost to to front blower. I'm not a very handy person but also dont have the cash flow to take it to a mechanic to get them fixed. Is there anyway I can do them myself? Thanks so much for your help.
