flame is burning high then it goes low then eventually it goes out

flame is burning high then it goes low then eventually it goes out I have a hotpoint gas stove no igniter the pilot is lit but the burner will light when I turn on the stove but the flame is burning high then it goes low then eventually it goes out needs help ASAP
