LG refrigerator not getting cold enough

LG refrigerator not getting cold enough My LG refrigerator is not getting as cold as it should. The fans are running and the coils are clean. The compressor doesn't appear to be coming on. The relay clicks every few seconds but i don't believe the compressor is coming on. Also the compressor is hot to the touch. I tested the compressor terminals to the housing with an ohm meter and have no continuity on any of them. Could it be the capacitor?

Hi Todd Owen. The relay is a bimetal that warps from heat. It makes the clicking sound when it warps. When it warps it is breaking the circuit to the compressor. Just like an on/off switch. Since, the compressor is hot then the relay is doing what it's designed to do. The compressor is overheating and the relay is turning it off. The most common reason for a compressor to overheat is a dirty condenser coil. You can try cleaning the coils. Unplug the refrigerator and let the compressor cool down. The coils are next to the compressor. Check the condensor fan for debris that might be keeping the blade from turning. The fan should be running while the compressor is running. If it isn't running then that is why the compressor overheated. Once that is done, plug in the refrigerator and within 20 minutes the compressor should start and the fan should be running. If you are still hearing the clicks then you have a bad compressor.
