Why wont my iPod fully turn on

Why wont my iPod fully turn on

my 5th gen 30gb ipod (model # A1136) will not turn on. when plugged in it shows the "please wait, very low battery" sign for 1-2 minutes, then tries to turn on and only comes up with a screen showing a little ipod with a sad face saying to go to apple/support/ipod. how can i fix this??

ANSWERS:

chris, you may actually have a low battery. Does it still charge, have you replaced it at anytime? It is relative easy to do and here are the instructions The battery is readily available here Make sure that when you disconnect that you pull the clip on the connector straight up, it is easy to tear the connector of the logic board if you apply to much sideways pressure (been there, done it) and make double sure that your cable is inserted deep enough. Good luck and let us know how you are progressing.

Go to apple/support/ipod. Follow the directions. Just kidding. Actually go here and follow the directions: support.apple/kb/ht1320

My 5th gen suffered the same fate, can you hear the hard drive spinning up or is it clicking with a low whir ???
