"Imagining that the most coveted change will promote physical violence makes me sick. Change is supposedly achieved by the agreement of everyone, acting in unison with a single goal in mind. However, this entirely depends on the mantra that a leader is upholding to. There are two types - (1) Consensus or (2) Conflict. When a leader follows the Consensus principle, he/she aims to to arrive at a decision agreed by everyone in that specific community. Here, the expected change is gradual. However, when the leader upholds to the Conflict principle, he/she abruptly implements a political system that aims at controlling the behavior of a certain group in a certain community, thereby creating change. This way, change is abrupt but there will be clamours from other people in that community. Physical violence, or emotional turbulence may be experienced by its constituents. I believe that bringing out social reform in a community need not be brutal or painful for the people. If a leader seeks change for the better, then the means must justify the ends.
