MEMORANDUM FROM THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
TO: Heads of Departments, Agencies, Bureaus and Offices, including Government-Financial Institutions, and Government-Owned-and-Controlled Corporations, Heads of Local Government Units.
SUBJECT: Earth Hour 2012
DATE: 05 March 2012
As the Philippines unites with the rest of the world in taking a stand on global warming and in taking action to ensure a sustainable future, all heads of departments, agencies, bureaus and offices, including government-financial institutions and government-owned-and-controlled corporations, are hereby enjoined to participate, as far as feasible, in various events organized by the Earth Hour Philippines, among which include:
- Switching off lights for one (1) hour - Earth Hour - on 31 March 2012, Saturday, at 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.; and
- Simultaneous Earth Hour switch-off ceremonies in the cities of Makati, Cebu and Davao on 31 March 2012.
You are hereby encouraged to organize your own Earth Hour event in your community or locality to widen the reach of the campaign by switching off lights in the respective homes and communities, and to use various communication channels to promote Earth Hour 2012, including official websites, community newsletters and blogs.
All the heads of local government units are hereby encouraged to participate in the aforesaid activities and to undertake their own activities in support of the aims and objectives of the Earth Hour.
