CINEFORUM on Migrant's Rights Watch

The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) will conduct the Cineforum on Migrant’s Rights Watch among other of the different programs and activities for the Celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos (MOF) in December and the International Migrants Day on December 18, 2011 at the SM Cinemas nationwide.
By virtue of Executive Order No. 202, an Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) chaired by the Philippine Migrants Rights Watch and co-chaired by the CFO, was established to prepare the month-long activities commemorating the MOF.

One of the IAC activities for December 6, 2011 (Tuesday) is the conduct of a Cineforum on Migration for free in SM Cinemas nationwide. The Cineforum, organized in partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and SM Global Pinoy, will feature the film EMIR by Chito Roño. The musical film set in a fictional emirate in the Middle East, tells a story of a Filipina nanny who works for a royal family, and the plight of other Filipino workers who were caught in the middle of a political conflict.

The objectives of this activity are to:
  1. increase public awareness on various issues and concerns of Filipino migrants, their families and their communities; and
  2. advocate for a stronger academic and media focus on migration issues. a
