Dell Inspiron 15-3567 - Hard Drive not installed

When the laptop boots up, I get a screen that says “Hard Drive - Not installed”. There is a box to click continue. When this is done, the laptop shuts down

"Start the computer and press F2 until the BIOS appears. Navigate the menu and reset it to it’s defaults. After doing that, double check that the boot mode is set to UEFI and not Legacy. Also make sure that the HDD operating mode is set to AHCI. A lot of times I see that it’s changed to RAID and people don’t realize.

Also check the physical connection, make sure the hard drive didn’t get knocked loose.

If none of those work, I would test your hard drive as it’s likely failed."

"Hello Michael

There are a number of conditions to make a proper diagnosis without having to make up your device:

1) Your Bios must be set up to boot from a USB port.

2) You must have a USB stick or an external hard drive with a portable Windows version, your case Windows 10.

You can solve the first by adjusting the boot order in the bios.

For the second you need software and another PC.

You get it from the MS site and choose “Download tool now”:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software...?

Follow the instructions so that you have the same version of your PC as portable windows on your USB stick or your external hard drive.

The rest is a matter of connecting, booting and seeing if it detect your old hard drive.

Good luck
