Ethernet doesn't work when I plug it directly into the modem.

Ethernet doesn't work when I plug it directly into the modem.

I get no internet when I plug the cord directly into my modem, only when I plug it into my router. What could be the cause of this? I need to be able to use the modem to plug directly into, but right now I can’t, it just acts like there is no signal. Thanks for the help!

Are there any LAN LEDs showing on the modem when you plug the PC into the LAN 1 port on the modem?

Is the router still plugged into the LAN 1 port on the modem and are you plugging the PC into the LAN 2 port?

If so this won't work as there is only one effective port, i.e. LAN1, out of the modem, unless you use ""Ethernet port aggregation"" and this is where you connect both LAN ports i.e. LAN 1 & LAN 2 to either the PC or the router. The caveat is that they must support this feature as well.

Here’s the user manual that may help."
