Fan constantly running at max speed

Fan constantly running at max speed

I have a problem with an ASUS Zenbook UX301LA where 10-20 minutes after I boot up the fan will start running at maximum speed regardless of temperature/CPU usage.

"I had the same issue, the only solution i could find in order not to compromise the battery life is to create a new battery mode.

Just choose a maximum CPU rate and yes it slows the computer but it's not a problem for most usage. You should choose 40%, that's the best compromise between performance, noise and battery life. I can even reach 10h usage on one charge with low brightness.

If you find any other solution in order to tell the system to keep the heat without turning on the fan or just at a precise temperature let me know.

Here's a screen capture (in french) but you could find it easily.

"Hi,

this is how to silence your laptop.

1. Download Notebook Fan Control : https://github.com/hirschmann/nbfc/relea...

2. Install it and launch it

3. In ""Selected config"" menu, select profile for Asus Zenbook UX301LA.

4. Set ""Fan control service status"" to Enabled.

5. Right click on bottom right icon for Settings > Check Start with Windows

NB. During summer, you may have to Disable Notebook fan control for a correct heat evacuation.

If you experience weird laptop behaviour, disable it too.

Another important thing is to flash latest Bios available for your laptop.

Enjoy ;-)"
