Why cant I take pictures, but can view photos?

Why cant I take pictures, but can view photos? The Camera zoom keeps pushing in and out,and the Camera keeps prompting me to turn on and off.

"as mention by oldturkey,i have solved my sony dsc-w55 camera,which had been droped,and could not

take picture,it is tricky but if you can dare to take front cover and see if you can reposition the lens,

it is to align the barrel while camera is on, mine worked."
