Why is my handy cam is turning on in charge but not in battery

I have a Sony handy cam using it l for 2 years I have 2 batteries when I put the camera with the battery to charge the camera is turning on with green light I off the camera then I couldn't see the charging light so then I unplug and turn on it didn't turn on
