Replace the spandex cuffs on an old Synchilla?

Replace the spandex cuffs on an old Synchilla? I have a Synchilla fleece jacket from the mid to late 80s. It was my first Patagonia anything. The stretch in the cuffs is long gone, so I only ever wear it when I am feeling real sentimental. Can these be replaced?

The synchilla pullovers last way longer than the cuffs, as long as you do not overheat the jackets, the fabric is VERY rugged. Excellent idea that Patagonia figure out a replacement for these. I have replaced them on one of my jackets 3 times. I like to sew things by hand, and do not like to dispose of functional items. If you know someone with a good sewing machine and creativity they may be able to help out, people with sewing machines can do some amazing things!
