Voltage intake of the PS3 from US

Voltage intake of the PS3 from US

I recently bought a ps3 slim (cech-2501b) from the US, and I am about to travel to Hong Kong, I know that voltage in Hong Kong is 220v. I also happen to know that the sticker outside of the ps3 is not entirely true because i have seen ifixit open one up, but that was a older model, so I am just wondering has PS3 change since?and if it did, what kind of stepdown converter do I nee, thank you very much.

cling1 if you check on here and here you will find that the PSU is multiple voltage as the teardown on page step 12 shows. Good Luck and have a safe trip...

"Those PS3's You mention probably experianced a surge current and went belly up.

I can state that my UK PS3 [PHAT] runs on 240v at home and 115V at my workplace. There is no need to do anything to the ps3 - just make sure your kettle lead has he right plug for the socket.

It is my understanding that the slims also have this ability."

Thank you everyone for these answers. I just moved to Hong Kong and held back on plugging in my US PS3 because I heard two stories of Americans frying their PS3 with a direct plug in. It didn't occur right away, but they said after a few months their PS3 just went tits up. What do you think happened?

It should work because I have worked with both 110V and 220V, but if you are too much worried you can get a voltage converter like 220Vto110V and make sure that it can at least provide 400 watts (or 500, you know just in case)
