What is causing these horizontal lines

It's the connector. Simply.

But yea, maybe its the logic board that is broken. And Samsung is known for making tv's that break after a year or two, so your best bet, is to go buy a new one.

"MY PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: a faint (watermark quality) multi-colored ‘banner’ across entire screen of my 65” SAMSUNG TV, approx 6” above bottom of screen, and 6” high, made up of multiple lines of what appeared as possibly highly blurred text or interference signals of some sort. this problem suddenly appeared following a storm related power outage.

MY SOLUTION: after much research, checking all connections to TV, doing the video diagnostic test in ‘setup’, and actually considering replacing this 3 year old TV, …i simply switched off the main power (basically pulled the plug), and switched it back on after about 30 seconds. Problem solved /perfect picture again!"
