Why won't the microphone pick up sound?

Why won't the microphone pick up sound? The headset and adapter are plugged in and I can hear game and chat sound, but no one can hear my voice from my microphone.

Settings

unplug headphone

controller settings with pic of controller on

click Buzz handset buzzes

click firmware update even though not required

shows 100% and complete

Plug headphone back in and it worked"

I couldn’t hear any sound in my headset and thought it was the mic and I connected it to a different controller and it worked.

"Check that the controller is charged, and headset has power. Click the microphone mute button on the headset adapter to be sure mute setting is off. The Xbox One controller's firmware may need to be updated.

I had this issue with one of my controllers. Connected via a USB cable to the xbox and force updated the handset firmware under devices in settings. Problem solved. HTH.
