Agitates while filling and rinses while spinning

Agitates while filling and rinses while spinning My 6 yr old Kenmore washer has started agitating while filling and pouring water while spinning. I've had to leave the lid open initially and then turn the water off during the spin cycle. Thank you for your help. ANSWERS:
