Can I remove the magnetron and still use the microwave?

Can I remove the magnetron and still use the microwave?

I was wondering if I could remove the magnetron from a 700 w microwave. Would the microwave be safe to turn on without being able to cook anything? Would it still turn on and would all the buttons/timer work ? Next I was wondering if I could then use the power cable that the magnetron used and power something else?
