Front differential doesn't work. Should I replace it?

Front differential doesn't work. Should I replace it? I have a 2009 Jeep Cherokee limited with 177K miles. The dealership tells me the front differential is shot and needs replaced but there are no more replacement parts on the market. I found a rebuilt differential at Autozone for $3K which is about the same as the trade in value. Can I drive it safely without replacing it?
