I can see the silhouettes from the usual Home Screen.

Hey all ?? I know this thread is a couple of years old now but I just thought I’d have input in hope that someone could possibly help my out with this problem. My tv model is PHILIPS 43PUS6401/12 I’ve read all the above posts and have tried the various steps to try remedy it. There is still audio btw. I have tried shining a light onto the screen and I can see the silhouettes from the usual Home Screen. What does this mean in regards to pinpointing what part of the board I need to check, to hopefully repair if so? Thanks ??

ANSWERS:

"Craig Kynaston you still have audio and your picture is visible with a flashlight angled against the screen is indicative of a failed backlight. This can be the backlight strips or the power board. Remove the back cover from your TV and check the power board. Check the fuses on the board and locate the connector that goes to the LED’s. Measure the DC voltage on those connectors and let us know what you find. You should see around 180VDC-220VDC on those connectors.

If you have never done this type of work you want to take it easy since we do not want you to get zapped by the board. Post some good clear pictures of your boards with your QUESTION. That way we can see what you see and hopefully provide a more detailed answer/guide. My experience tells me this is a backlight strip issue. The part number for those strips is GJ-2K16-430-D512-V4 just in case you want to look at prices etc. before you determine what you are going to do with it.  '' Let’s find out :-)"
