jvc home stereo,model#CA-MXK-68 and cant get anything to power up.

I have jvc home stereo,model#CA-MXK-68 and cant get anything to power up. Is there a fuse I can change,or what should I look for to be wrong with it?

ANSWERS:

"Hi,

Do you have a DMM (digital multimeter) and know how to use it? Do you know how to read circuit diagrams?

If not, contact a reputable, professional audio electronics repair service and ask for a quote to repair the receiver.

If so, you need to open the unit up and check if there is +/- 28 VDC on connector FW500 in the Power Amp board or the other voltages appearing on connector FW700 in the Micom board.

Here are some images taken from the service manual for the receiver showing the connectors in relation to the power unit and then shown in the actual wiring diagram.

If there are the correct voltages coming from the power unit, the circuit diagrams should help to find where the problem may be.

If there is no voltage or the incorrect voltages coming from the power unit it will have to be replaced.

There is no circuit diagram for the power unit in the service manual, so perhaps it may be a sealed unit or is what is known as “unserviceable” and has to be replaced as a complete unit.

Depending on your exact model there are two power units shown in the service manual parts list

QAL1060-001 POWER UNIT ASSY 68J,68C,38J,38C

QAL1060-002 POWER UNIT ASSY 68B,68E,68EN,68EV,68A,68UJ,68UW

As an example, searching online for a QAL1060-001 gave this result. They are not cheap.

Hopefully this is of some help."
