My dryer been over heating and now it doesn’t start.

I can’t figure out what’s wrong with my dryer please help. It worked fine and dried my clothes but the dryer would get pretty hot and now when I try to press start nothing happens. I can turn the power on and off but when I click the start it won’t start the dryer. It’s a kenmore elite smart heat quietpak 4 he3.

"Solution 1:

Heating Element

The heating element warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the element is partially shorted out, it may produce heat continuously, even if the dryer has reached the proper temperature. When this happens, the dryer gets too hot. To determine if the heating element is at fault, use a multimeter to test each terminal for continuity to the case. If the heating element has continuity to the case, it is shorted out. If the heating element is shorted out, replace it.

"Hi,

Check if the thermal fuse and thermal cut out fuse are both OK.

The thermal fuse if blown will prevent the dryer from starting and heating.

The thermal cut out fuse stops the dryer from overheating.

A faulty thermal cut out fuse would have allowed the heater to get too hot (which may have damaged the heater element -hopefully not) and caused the thermal fuse to blow, shutting off the power to the heater so as to prevent a possible fire"
