noise from hard drive on start up with I pod
on switching on, there is a grinding and clicking noise from the hard drive on the i pod. the 5 stage recovery is not sucsesful and the sad i pod face keeps coming up

stewcum65, by the symptoms and the noise you are describing, it sounds like your hard drive has failed. It is somewhat becoming more common, probably because of the age of the drives.
