used my iPod in a 3rd gen dock. How to repair the connector?
I used my 4th gen in my 3rd gen dock for a long time. now the connector seems to be damaged as charging and synchronizing does not work properly. how can i fix it?

ANSWERS:

"you wrote that it does not charge/sync properly - does it connect at all?

the dock connector is soldered to the logic board - so there is no easy way to replace it.

sometimes are the contacts bent or corroded - look inside the connector, maybe you see something ""odd""

if they are corroded or dust/dirt is inside - use isopropyl alcohol and a paintbrush to clean it, if they are bent - well, lets talk about that after you checked it"

hi, i had the thing layin around for some time and tried alcohol with little effect. is it possible to bend it back, perhaps after carefully heating it?
