Volume turns back to 0 even after I turn it up, and stays on

Volume turns back to 0 even after I turn it up, and stays on

I turned my tv on yesterday and went to turn the volume up because it said 0, when I turn it up it turns itself back to zero and stays on! We lost the remote about 2 weeks after we got the t.v. We only bought the tv October 8th! Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
