What do I need to check to see why I have no picture

What do I need to check to see why I have no picture I recently got a tv from my wife's uncle after he said he couldn't figure out what was wrong. I did the normal tests and it powers on and has the little chime. The screen is backlit but there is no picture. ANSWERS:
