Why does my truck shut-off when I hit my gas pedal?

Why does my truck shut-off when I hit my gas pedal? My truck normally needs a spray of starting fluid to crank and then once I shift into gear it tends to shut down or idles for (4 or 5 mins) and then it cuts off or soon as I hit the gas to rev the engine or drive it shuts down
