Why is my display and spin wheel working but I hear nothing?

Why is my display and spin wheel working but I hear nothing?

My ipod works like normal but it is not playing any music. It shows the song playing and everything, but no noise in my either pair of my earphones or in my car. Is the earphone connection bad? Do you think it needs to be replaced?
