Why is my TV shutting down and then the red led flashes.

My PANASONIC TX-55CX680B started to switch off and the red led would blink on and off the only way to get it back on was to switch it off then it would come back on . it did this a good few times but will not come back on now I have tried leaving down powered for a while but will not come back on just the blinking red led can anybody please tell me what it might be.
