Reliance Jio, Airtel see steady customer gains in November 2021 as Vodafone's pain continues: Trai
Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have reported steady wireless customer gains in November, largely at the expense of Vodafone Idea (Vi) which continued to suffer heavy customer losses, unable to offset the impact of sharp hikes in base prepaid tariffs taken in late-July.Reliance Jio added 2.01 million wireless customers in November, taking its gross mobile user base to 428.61 million, while Bharti Airtel’s rose by 1.31 million to 355.29 million, according to latest subscriber data issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday.By contrast, Vodafone Idea (Vi) lost over 1.89 million customers in November, reducing its total mobile user base to 267.12 million, indicating the cash-strapped telco’s continuing inability to effectively combat its two financially-stronger rivals.Analysts said Jio’s stronger show on the customer gains front was also partly helped by the Diwali launch of its new 4G device, JioPhone Next -- jointly developed with Google.India's overall mobile user base climbed by 1.2 million in November to 1.167 billion, partly helped by Jio and Airtel customer gains. Jio and Airtel have also grown their rural mobile user bases to 185.89 million and 171.32 million respectively, while Vi’s has dipped further 135.29 million end-November.Trai data showed that Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have marginally widened their customer market shares to 36.71% (36.58%) and 30.43% (30.35%) respectively in November while Vi’s narrowed to 22.88% (23.07%).Visitor Location Register (VLR), a key metric reflecting the number of active subscribers on a mobile network, showed that 97.92% of the users were active for Bharti Airtel, 86.69% for Vi and 83.9% for Jio in November.Follow Gadgets Now on  Facebook  and  Twitter.   For the  latest news,   tech news,   breaking news headlines and live updates checkout Gadgetsnow.comGN Awards - Vote for your favourite GadgetsFacebookTwitterLinkedinAdd commentStart a ConversationAll Comments (0)+0/3000Be the first one to comment.{"@context":"http://schema.org","@type":"NewsArticle","inLanguage":"en","mainEntityOfPage":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://www.gadgetsnow.com/tech-news/reliance-jio-airtel-see-steady-customer-gains-in-november-2021-as-vodafones-pain-continues-trai/articleshow/88993193.cms","url":"https://www.gadgetsnow.com/tech-news/reliance-jio-airtel-see-steady-customer-gains-in-november-2021-as-vodafones-pain-continues-trai/articleshow/88993193.cms"},"headline":"Reliance Jio, Airtel see steady customer gains in November 2021 as Vodafone's pain continues: Trai","description":"Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have reported steady wireless customer gains in November, largely at the expense of Vodafone Idea (Vi) which continued to suffer heavy customer losses, unable to offset the impact of sharp hikes in base prepaid tariffs taken in late-July.Reliance Jio added 2.01 million wireless customers in November, taking its gross mobile user base to 428.61 million, while Bharti Airtel’s rose by 1.31 million to 355.29 million, according to latest subscriber data issued by the Te...","keywords":"telecom regulatory authority of india, reliance jio,Vodafone Idea, jiophone next,jio,Airtel,trai","datePublished":"2022-01-19T14:24:00+05:30","dateModified":"2022-01-19T14:27:00+05:30","image":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://static.toiimg.com/thumb/resizemode-4,msid-88993193,width-1200,height-900/88993193.jpg","height":900,"width":1200},"author":{"@type":"Person","name":"ET Bureau"},"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Gadgets Now","logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://static.toiimg.com/photo/88204186.cms","width":600,"height":60}},"articleBody":"Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have reported steady wireless customer gains in November, largely at the expense of Vodafone Idea (Vi) which continued to suffer heavy customer losses, unable to offset the impact of sharp hikes in base prepaid tariffs taken in late-July.Reliance Jio added 2.01 million wireless customers in November, taking its gross mobile user base to 428.61 million, while Bharti Airtel’s rose by 1.31 million to 355.29 million, according to latest subscriber data issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Tuesday.By contrast, Vodafone Idea (Vi) lost over 1.89 million customers in November, reducing its total mobile user base to 267.12 million, indicating the cash-strapped telco’s continuing inability to effectively combat its two financially-stronger rivals.Analysts said Jio’s stronger show on the customer gains front was also partly helped by the Diwali launch of its new 4G device, JioPhone Next -- jointly developed with Google.India's overall mobile user base climbed by 1.2 million in November to 1.167 billion, partly helped by Jio and Airtel customer gains.
