Total Number of Regions, Provincies, Cities, Municipalities and Barangays in the Philippines

Here's an update from the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) in the Philippines regarding the latest total number of regions provincies, cities, municipalities, and barangays in the Philippines.

December 31, 2011March 31, 2012

You will notice in the above the table that there's one barangay added in 2012. This was the effect of the division of Barangay Canumay, Valenzuela City into:
  • Barangay Canumay West
  • Barangay Canumay East
This brings the total number of barangays in the Philippines to 42,027. The division of the said barangay was approved on November 21, 2011 by the Valenzuela City Sangguniang Panglungsod and being ratified through a plebiscite of COMELEC.

Other updates include:
  • renaming of Barangay Tulo to Barangay Milagrosa
  • correction in the name of Jetafe municapility to Getafe in the Bohol province.
