Summer Training Course for Teachers of the Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) - Spanish

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Secondary Education (BSE), and in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Government of Spain, Instituto Cervantes, Manila, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), shall conduct the Summer Training Course for Teachers of the Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) - Spanish from April 16 to May 28, 2012 at the Instituto Cervantes, Manila, T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila.
The objective of the training is to capacitate the teachers on the diverse aspects involved in learning a second or foreign language.

The participants to the training shall be secondary school teachers (see enclosed list) from selected schools nationwide. Likewise, there shall be twenty (20) additional teachers who will be trained in Basic Spanish. Two (2) of the additional teachers are replacements while the remaining eighteen (18) are from newly identified schools.

The teachers who will undergo training shall be given service credits in accordance with DepEd Order No. 53, s. 2003 entitled "Updated Guidelines on Grant of Vacation Service Credits to Teachers."

Participants are expected to arrive in Manila on April 15, 2012 to find their lodging houses for the duration of the training. They are expected to attend the first day of the training on April 16, 2012 and make use of the Aula Virtual de Espanol (AVE) continuously, parallel to the course.

The traveling expenses (transportation and per diem) which shall be reimbursed upon presentation of complete travel documents (authority to travel, official receipts, bus/plane/boat tickets, terminal fee tickets, boarding pass), at the venue, stipend for the Spanish teachers coming from regions outside the National Capital Region (NCR) and other incidental expenses of the participants are chargeable to Human Resource Training and Development (HRTD) Funds, subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations. Participants are advised to take the cheapest means of transportation to and from the training venue.

The partner institutions shall cover training fees and materials.

As a matter of cost efficiency in the use of training funds, only one (1) of the two (2) participants will be allowed to return to their station to participate in the Brigada Eskwela scheduled on May 21 - 25, 2012. However, the said participant shall have to comply with all the requirements of the course through the Aula Virtual de Espanol (AVE).
