Does the answering machine use a digital or tape recording media

Does the answering machine use a digital or tape recording media I want to save some messages stored on the SPP 946 answering machine. I would like to know if the recording are on a tape unit or a digital recording unit of some sort. If digital, is it removable and/copyable?

@troxell it uses a DRAM IC to digitally store your messages. No tape and the DRAM is not removable
