Flip lock not working

Flip lock not working when I got my laptop a few months ago the auto rotation worked fine. a few weeks ago it just stopped. I have checked the settings and everything is as it should be. except that the screen is now locked (settings are set to allow auto rotate) computer says "auto rotation is unavailable because you're using your pc as a laptop"
