I had a case like that; I believe I was able to remove the screws using a small flat screwdriver that was able to fit tightly enough into the screw head. Once I removed the screws, I replaced them with regular phillips head.
I can confirm that the screws for the casing of the Seagate ST90000U2 external HD are Pentalobe #6. You need a screwdriver PL-6 (Pentalobe #6) for these screws. I got a set of screwdrivers from a German company called Wiha, available on Amazon.
