My Ceiling fan only make humming sound but not moving, Light works.

"I don’t think it is a switch problem. When I change speeds I can hear the hum change. I took the light kit off to look at the capacitor. I ordered a new capacitor and like magic the fan started working again. I have a new capacitor. Next time it doesn’t start I’ll replace it. Until then ‘if it ain’t broke’.

Does it spin easily by hand when off? When on and humming, try and get it spinning by hand. Does it take off and start spinning? If so your capacitor may be bad out of the box (rare but happens) or might be the wrong capacitor. If it doesn't, or doesnt spin freely like it normally does, then the motor might be bad/have bad bearings.
