Symptoms of a blown motherboard on server

When a motherboard is faulty it either doesn't boot at all or what I find usually is it does boot, but you get completely random and unrelated faults such as blue screens that could be memory related one moment, hard drive another, and then even something with network card.

That being said, I have never seen a motherboard (especially a server one) go faulty from having to high of a power draw - it is usually just the PSU that goes, so that does sound a bit fishy to me, however, it is impossible to know without seeing it as it could've malfunctioned and surged or just generally did something it shouldn't of done."
