True Tone and Autobrightness not working after LCM repair.

OK folks. I asked a similar question and received the usual, "you did not do it right" responses. Here is the issue. When you replace the LCM on an iPhone 8, you lose the True Tone and auto-brightness features. Anyone else know about this or how to fix it?

"Hello Shawn,

It is very likely that the part you installed includes an aftermarket LCD, meaning the display element is from a different factory than your original display. Aftermarkets will typically have different color characteristics than the original. Inexpensive aftermarkets will never be very close. Some very expensive aftermarket parts are nearly identical to the original screen. Unfortunately only the Apple Store part, calibrated by Apple's own equipment will be 100% accurate.

As to the brightness issue, your ambient light sensor may be misaligned or the glass in front of the sensor be too transparent or too opaque. I recommend taking out the new screen assembly and comparing the old and new parts. The ""hole"" in front of sensor needs to match. If the glass color does not match, how you adjust the shading will be up to your own level of creativity. Adding successive layers of transperant tape to the glass may be a good start."

I believe that with the latest iOS 11 updates it is no longer possible to replace the screen, as auto-brightness and true tone will be disabled. I also heard that face-ID sometimes gets disabled.

You must transfer eeprom off original screen from the phone to replacement screen which accepts the data. After market with copied IC will not take that data.

when You replace your screen you WILL lose the True Tone feature, it doesn’t matter if you use an Apple original display as a replacement… the original screen is the only screen with True Tone. I don’t know why your auto brightness doesn’t work, it should. Maybe you used a replacement camera assembly? I have a replacement oem Apple screen installed on my iPhone 8 and I do not have True Tone :(
