What should I do if I dropped my tablet in the water?

What should I do if I dropped my tablet in the water?

I was using my tablet near the sink and it slipped out of my hand, landing right in a bowl of water. I need to use my tablet asap! What should I do?

"First, turn off the device immediately. There's a chance nothing is wrong yet, but if water seeps in while the tablet is still running, it might short and fry a circuit. So, turn off the power and make sure there's no electricity flowing in those circuits.

If you need to use your tablet ""asap,"" you might be out of luck. The safest way to ensure your Playbook keeps working might take some time.

I recommend you find some uncooked rice or silica packets (the little packets labeled ""Do not eat"" that you get in things like new backpacks) and encase your tablet in that. This will serve to absorb the water. Leave it like this for some time, preferably an afternoon or a couple hours at least.

After a while, take the device out of the rice/silica and disassemble it. You're going to go hunting for leftover water and anything left behind when the water evaporated. Check the circuit boards, battery, and electronics for traces of water and clean them off with a cotton swab or microfilter cloth and isopropyl alcohol.

Once you've thoroughly checked the device and ensured it is dry and clean, try turning it on. If things don't work from there, try the Troubleshooting Guide. At that point, though, it's pretty likely you've fried the battery or, worse, a circuit."

"Isopropyl 99% in an ultra sonic cleaner (jewellery cleaner machine) - take the motherboard out and set it to clean at 80 degrees and then look for corrosion any clean that off with a toothbrush a soft one - please correct me if I'm wrong ifixit because I'm new still for now but ya and leave it in for a while not too sure how long I'm sorry - you will see a bunch of guck and stuff floating from the millions of bubble that get into every single little hole we can't and you should be good to go! Do some research on it and look up what I typed here and you'll be in the right direction ! Hope I helped

--Motivator Luke W on fb if you want to chat but these ifixit guys rock this stuff like you wouldn't believe ! I love you guys and gals if any!"

Put it in rice for about 24 hours or until you think it's ready
