when I hit the power button theres a blinking light

Try the procedure as outlined in the update (01/03/2020) in the Most Helpful Answer above and check if that resolves the problem

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for your laptop.

On p.37 you’ll find the necessary steps to remove the main battery pack. You don’t have to remove it, simply disconnect it from the motherboard.

On p.49 you’ll find the necessary steps to remove the backup battery (aka RTC or CMOS battery)."
